The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast light to moderate rainfall across much of the country over the next 24 hours, with heavy downpours expected in several provinces.
According to the department’s bulletin issued at 6am on Saturday, the monsoon system continues to influence weather conditions nationwide. During the day, partly to generally cloudy skies are likely across the country, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly regions and isolated areas elsewhere.
Heavy rain is also likely at one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. In high-hill and mountainous areas, light rain or snowfall is possible.
Tonight, weather conditions are expected to remain similar, with continued chances of light to moderate rain in the hilly areas and scattered locations. The department has also warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in one or two places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Authorities have urged the public, particularly those living in flood- and landslide-prone areas, to remain alert.
