The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast cloudy weather across the country on Friday with chances of rainfall and thunderstorms in various regions.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some places of the hilly regions and a few other areas. One or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces could witness heavy rainfall.
Light rain or snowfall is also expected at a few places in the high-hill and Himalayan regions. Some areas in the Tarai plains of Koshi and Madhesh provinces may experience gusty winds.
Tonight, similar weather is expected to continue with chances of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in the hills and light snowfall in the higher elevations. Heavy rain is also possible in one or two places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
Meteorologists said monsoon winds are active over parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with partial influence in eastern Lumbini. Western Nepal is experiencing partial influence of westerly and local winds, while a low-pressure system near West Bengal in India is also having a partial effect.
