The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted widespread rain and thunderstorms across the country on Thursday.
Throughout the day, the weather will be generally cloudy nationwide, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning expected in many regions. Heavy rainfall is likely in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Other parts of the country may also experience rain, though it is expected to be less intense.
The division noted that similar weather patterns will persist into the night, with heavy rainfall expected at one or two places in Koshi and Madhesh provinces. The rest of the country will remain partly to generally cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in multiple regions, including Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The division said that the monsoon trough, a low-pressure system, is currently influencing weather patterns across the country. The trough is positioned slightly north of its average location in the eastern part of the country, while it remains in its typical position in the west.
On Wednesday, the highest recorded temperature was in Biratnagar at 33.9°C, while the lowest was in Jomsom at 15°C. The highest rainfall (144.1mm) was recorded in Simara.
