An Indian national has been arrested with 3.4 kilograms of cocaine at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
According to Superintendent of Police Janak Bahadur Shahi, spokesperson for the Narcotics Control Bureau, 45-year-old Abdus Samad Jamal Mansuri was caught with narcotics at the airport’s arrival parking area on Wednesday evening.
Mansuri, a resident of Maharashtra, India, arrived in Kathmandu at 4pm on a Qatar Airways flight. Police said the cocaine was concealed in a backpack typically used by students, along with clothes.
“We searched his bag and recovered the cocaine based on suspicion,” said SP Shahi.
Police have initiated further investigation under the Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act, 1976.
