The Kathmandu District Administration Office has beefed up security in Kathmandu Valley in view of Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Chhath festivals.
Chief District Officer Ghanshyam Upadhyay said the security has been strengthened to prevent any untoward incidents during the festival period.
Upadhyay said that all three district administration offices within the Valley have fully implemented the security strategy focusing on the festivals.
Likewise, the Deusi-Bhailo programme can be organised inside the valley until 10 pm, informed Upadhyay.
Earlier the district administration office, through a public notice on October 21, had stated that Deusi-Bhailo programme could be held only up to 9pm during the Tihar festival.
“The time for this has been extended by an hour in response to the public demand and security arrangements have been made accordingly,” said Upadhyay.
However, the prohibition on gambling, buring fire crackers and drinking in a way likely to disturb social peace, and law and order stands, the District Administration Office said.
