As part of its drive to collect tax dues from big evaders, the Kathmandu Metropolitan Office on Wednesday warned 41 business operators in the city, asking them to clear property taxes within 10 days.
Among the notable institutions the KMC alerted about their dues are Siddhartha Vanasthali School of Balaju, Civil Mall at Sundhara, Kathmandu Engineering College in Kalimati and Nepal Red Cross Society.
The KMC sent a letter to the institutions, stating that if the taxes are not paid within the given deadline, the city office would take action in accordance with the KMC’s Revenue Act 2075 (2018).
Those asked to clear their unpaid taxes also include Signature Apartment in ward 12, Blue Bird Investment Limited in ward 13, Hotel Platinum (Mahabir Palace) in ward 13, Aadhar Complex in ward 14, Battery Karkhana in ward 16, Advanced Automobile Pvt Ltd in ward 20, VG Automobile Pvt Ltd in ward 20, and Aadarsha Nagar Business Pvt in ward 22.
Other tax evaders listed by KMC are Ranjana Trade Center at ward 22; Nepal Scout at ward 26; Nepal Center for Development and Policy Studies at ward 26; NAME Institute for Medical Education Pvt Ltd at ward 28; Star Holding at ward 30; Punya Mention Pvt Ltd at ward 30; Riddi Siddhi Developers at ward 32; Varun Beverage Nepal at ward 32; Rabindra Bahadur Malla of ward 1; Subash Kumar Ghimire of ward 1; Manish Amatya of ward number 1; Rabina Shrestha of ward 2; Sishu Aryal of ward 2; Yognath Paudel of ward 16; and Pradip Ratna Tamrakar, Udaya Ratna Tamrakar and Bijaya Ratna Tamrakar of ward 20.
Other names included are Basundhara Tuladhar from ward 22; Purusottam Sanghai from ward 28; Kiran Sanghai from ward 28; Jay Nepal Hall, Emporium Apartment, Sagarmatha Insurance, Global Trading Concern, Puja Entreprises, and Landmark Hotel at ward 1; Om San International College at ward 7; and World Trade Center, CTC Mall, and NRT Club at ward 11.
On September 8, the city had sent a letter to the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Social Welfare Council to pay their rental tax within 10 days.
