The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Monday filed a corruption case against three forest staff of the government at the Special Court on charge of irregularities of Rs14.87 million while allowing to sell Jatamansi (a medicinal herb) in Dolpa district.
The anti graft body filed a corruption case against Ram Bichari Thakur, former forest officer at District Forest Office, Dolpa, and foresters Rudra Bahadur Budha and Bhim Bahadur Budha for preparing forged documents mentioning that Jatamansi plants were produced on private land, though they were grown on community and national forests.
According to the CIAA chargesheet, they prepared forged documents in collusion with local landowners and middlemen involved in trading of medicinal herbs. Based on the documents, 185,996kg of Jatamansi plants were collected and sold outside the district.
