Senior-most Justice at the Supreme Court Deepak Raj Joshee has resigned from his post on Tuesday. Joshee submitted his resignation to the president through Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.
The Constitutional Council led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on June 12, 2018 recommended Joshee to head the judiciary after chief justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli resigned on March 15, 2018.
But the Parliamentary Hearing Committee rejected his nomination over multiple issues from his controversial rulings, and dubious certificates to conduct, integrity and capability.
Joshee was also removed from the constitutional bench and was stripped of his responsibilities by Chief Justice Rana.
