Property worth millions of rupees was destroyed when a fire broke out at the Gaurishankar furniture showroom at Buddhanagar in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu on Monday.
According to DSP Homendra Bogati at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, the fire completely destroyed the showroom owned by Raju Karki. He said the fire broke out at around 3:30 pm today. DSP Bogati said that the showroom had a huge storage of Chinese goods.
Though the exact reason behind the fire has yet to the established, it has been assumed that the incident might have occurred due to electric short circuit.
The fire was taken under control with the help of nine fire engines of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force among others.
