The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against Metropolitan Police Range, Boudha Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyam Kumar Rai at the Special Court.
In a statement on Wednesday, the CIAA stated that a corruption case has been filed at the special court against DSP Rai, seeking jail sentence and fines as per the existing laws.
DSP Rai had allegedly sought money from a service seeker to buy a Sony television set with a retail value of Rs 140,000.
According to the CIAA statement, DSP Rai had repeatedly called the service seeker to pay the bill amount of the television set which he had bought.
Fed up with the continuous harassment by the police personnel, the service seeker filed a complaint with the anti-graft body. Following the complaint, a team from Tangal-based CIAA office caught DSP Rai red-handed while accepting the bribe money, read the statement.
