Financial aid to family of deceased journo Thapaliya
Kantipur Media Group (KMG) management, journalists and other staffers have provided a financial assistance of Rs 1.2 million to the family of late Kantipur journalist Yadav Thapaliya.
Kantipur Media Group (KMG) management, journalists and other staffers have provided a financial assistance of Rs 1.2 million to the family of late Kantipur journalist Yadav Thapaliya.
At a programme organised at its office in Central Business Park, Thapathali, Kathmandu on Thursday, KMG Chairman and Managing Director Kailash Sirohiya handed over the receipt of Rs 1,193,005 that has been saved in a bank account under fixed deposit scheme to his wife Ganga Khatiwada.
Journalists and other staffers of KMG collected Rs 673,005 and KMG donated Rs 500,000 and photo journalist Narendra Shrestha chipped in Rs 20,000 for the financial aid to support the upkeep and education of Thapaliya’s two daughters. Federation of Nepali Journalists Kantipur chapter saved the amount at NIC Asia Bank under fixed deposit for 5 years.
CMD Sirohiya said KMG management is ready to support for the education of Thapaliya’s daughters in the future too. Similarly, FNJ Kantipur Chapter Chairman Atul Mishra said the employees of Kantipur will always be prepared to support the family of Thapaliya.
Yadav Thapaliya, a journalist associated with the Kantipur daily, died on June 29 while undergoing treatment for viral influenza at Sinamangal-based Kathmandu Medical College. He was 39 and is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.
