Gangster Baghe arrested for extortion
Notorious gangster Suk Bahadur Tamang aka ‘Baghe’ has been arrested from Swoyambhu in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Notorious gangster Suk Bahadur Tamang aka ‘Baghe’ has been arrested from Swoyambhu in Kathmandu on Thursday.
A police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, apprehended Baghe on the charge of extortion based on complaints filed against him.
SSP Basanta Lama of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, said that Baghe has been found involved in hooliganism and a spate of extortion for the past many years.
Police said that Baghe had long been working in collaboration with notorious gangster Deepak Manange, who is doing time in central jail for an attempted murder case. Baghe was arrested time and again in the past for various crimes.
Earlier in 2002, he was detained for robbing Lochan Prasad Bimali of Anamnagar of Rs 128,000 in cash at a hotel in Kathmandu by brandishing a sharp weapon.
Similarly, Baghe was rounded up for public offence case during the tenure of then SSP Ramesh Kharel in 2013. He was again nabbed in 2016 and public offence case was lodged against him.
Again on November 1, 2017, a police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kathmandu, arrested and lodged a case under abduction and hostage taking.
Baghe was arrested on April 15, 2017 by a police team deployed form the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju. Then SSP Chabilal Shrestha of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, detained Baghe again on May 24, 2017.
