A woman was gang raped near Halesi Chowk of Inaruwa Municipality-6 in the district headquarters of Sunsari on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old lady was reportedly raped in the vicinity of Halesi Chowk along the East-West Highway, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Sunsari Gyanendra Phuyal said. DSP Phuyal confirmed that the mentally-retarded lady was found naked and in semi unconscious state. Police have rescued the victim and sent to Biratnagar for the medical treatment.

Police have held three youths for investigations for their alleged involvement in the rape case. Further investigations into the case are ongoing, according to the police. RSS
