A man has been arrested on the charge of swindling millions of rupees from youths aspiring for foreign jobs with fake assurances of sending them to Cambodia for lucrative jobs.
A team of Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) arrested the suspect identified as Suman Basnet, 24, of Shivasatachhi Municipality-9, Jhapa district.
According to a complaint filed at MPCD, Basnet had swindled Rs 8.8 million from 19 persons promising them a job of security guard in Cambodia. Police said that Basnet had also assured the gullible youth of Rs 100,000 monthly salary.
Basnet was arrested from Machhapokhari of Kathmandu, based on the complaint filed by the victims, Inspector Narendra Prasad Upreti said.
