KMC to offer civic reception to Modi
KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will offer civic reception to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Capital’s City Hall on May 12.On the occasion, Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya will give a key to the city and a letter of felicitation to the Indian prime minister.The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will offer civic reception to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Capital’s City Hall on May 12.
On the occasion, Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya will give a key to the city and a letter of felicitation to the Indian prime minister. KMC spokesperson Gyanendra Karki said Mayor Shakya will also present Modi with a wooden sculpture and other cultural gifts associated with Kathmandu. Earlier, the KMC had accorded similar honour to former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee during his 2016 Nepal visit.
For the upcoming visit of Indian Prime Minister Modi, the KMC has started the city beautification campaign, which includes repairing roads and planting shrubs along major road stretches. The clean-up has already begun from the Tribhuvan International Airport to Hyatt Regency Hotel in Boudha, where Modi is scheduled to stay.
Karki said Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Singhadurbar and Sital Niwas areas will also be spruced up for the arrival of the Indian prime minister. (PR)
