The Judicial Council (JC) has forwarded the names of three senior-most Supreme Court Justices at the Constitutional Council for the appointment as new Chief Justice (CJ).
The JC on Tuesday proposed the names of acting CJ Deepak Raj Joshee, Justices Om Prakash Mishra and Cholendra SJB Rana and sent their records to the Constitutional Council.
According to the constitutional provision, the President appoints the Chief Justice upon the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.
The post of the Chief Justice has remained vacant following the resignation of former CJ Gopal Parajuli.
