CPN-UML candidates were elected as speakers of Province 3 and 7 unopposed.
Leader Sanu Kumar Shrestha was elected as the Speaker of Province 3 while Arjun Bahadur Thapa was unopposed in Province 7. The two leader were the only candidate to file candidacy from their respective provinces. Thapa’s appointment to the post will be officially made public only on Monday’s Provincial Assembly meeting.
Shrestha was elected from Kathmandu-2 ‘Ka’. He was sworn in by province chief Anuradha Koirala amid a ceremony today.
The time for filing the nomination was set from 10 am to 1pm, Saturday.
CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliamentary Party leader Shalikram Jamarkattel had proposed Shrestha’s nomination while CPN-UML leader Rameshwor Phuyal seconded the proposal.
