The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has intensified the task of collecting unsightly wires dangling from electric poles at major road sections in the Capital.
Over 30 trucks of wires have been collected in the last one month alone, according to Hari Bahadur Kunwar, head of the KMC’s Environment Division.
The campaign to remove of loose wires and excess cable loops from utility poles was announced by the Ministry of Information and Communications two months ago.
Authorities have already removed such wires at places where the road expansion project is under way.
“The metropolis is working in coordination with the ministry, the Nepal Telecom, the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Cable Service Providers’ Association in the task,” said Kunwar.
