Protestors have gathered at Maitighar Mandala on Wednesday afternoon demanding immediate release of Dr Govinda KC, arrested on charge of contempt of court.
Hundreds of protestors who converged at Mandala also demanded resignation of Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli. Cadres of Naya Shakti Nepal have joined the protest with party banners.
KC was arrested on Monday evening on charge of contempt of court. He had begun his hunger strike demanding resignation of chief justice Parajuli after he, issuing a verdict on a writ, ordered the Tribhuvan University to reinstate Dr Sashi Sharma as Institute of Medicine (IoM) dean.
KC was presented before the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The court is due to begin hearing on the case on Wednesday.
