Senior advocate Surendra Bhandari, presenting his argument for Dr Govinda KC who is facing a contempt of court case, has said that Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli should not hold on to the post for even one minute following serious accusations leveled against him and must appear before the court to furnish a clarification on the accusations.

In a hearing presided by a division bench of SC Justices Purshotam Bhandari and Bam Kumar Shrestha on Wednesday, advocate Bhandari called on CJ Parajuli for a clarification on the charges leveled against him.

Earlier, presenting his views in front of a SC division bench Dr KC had said that he is not a ‘subject’ to a particular authority rather he is an aware citizen of a sovereign nation and was exercising the right of freedom of expression guaranteed by the constitution.

The apex court has already heard discussions from the plaintiff’s side. Senior advocates Prakash KC, Raman Shrestha and Shyam Kharel had presented the plaintiff’s case.
