PM urges election commissioners for effective voters education drive
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday met election commissioners and urged them to make the voters education drive effective to ensure greater participation in upcoming federal and provincial elections.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday met election commissioners and urged them to make the voters education drive effective to ensure greater participation in upcoming federal and provincial elections.
At the meeting smmoned by the PM at his residence in Baluwatar, PM urged election commissioners to make necessary arrangements for larger participation and lower numbers of invalid votes.
A statement released by the Election Commision stated PM Deuba expressed government's preparedness to provide any kind of support to the EC for elections. "Make necessary arrangements for people to exercise their voting rights," PM said in the meeting, the statement reads.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Ayodhi Prasad Yadav appreciated PM's commitment to conduct election on the announced dates. Election commissioners were thankful towards the PM for receiving full support from the government to conduct elections.
CEC Yadav, commissioners Ishwari Poudel, Ila Sharma, Sudhir Kumar Sah and EC secretary Begendra Sharma were present in the meeting.
