EC annuls Joshi's nomination in Tanahun

Joshi had filed his nomination as independent candidate from the constituency.
EC spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal said the annulment was based on the provision to bar morally unfit contestants from election.
Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, also contesting from the same constituency, had filed complaint against Joshi's nomination. The office of election officer had sought direction from EC over the complaint filed by the leader.
Joshi, a former Home Minister, was convicted of corruption by the Special Court on July 25, 2012 and fined Rs 43.2 million and sentenced to one-and-a-half year in prison.
