Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Gopalman Shrestha has said that the government has arranged for facilities to ensure that conflict victims from Dalit and marginalised communities are not left out of school.
Responding to lawmakers’ queries at the Legislature-Parliament on topics related to the ministry under the Appropriation Bill-2074 BS, DPM Shrestha said the government would implement the “One School One Library” campaign immediately.
He said action would be taken against the community schools that collect fees
from students illegally under any pretext. According to the minister, reconstruction of 9,333 schools damaged by the Gorkha Earthquake has started.
Shrestha, also the minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs, said the Law Ministry is busy formulating necessary laws to guarantee people’s rights, adding that the legal education system would continue.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said the country has adopted its foreign policy based on sovereignty, national integration and the principle of Panchasheel, adding that a taskforce would bring clarity and uniformity on the matter.
Mahara said the government has focused on development diplomacy in order to ensure the country’s prosperity. He added that repair and maintenance of pillars on the Nepal-India border was underway.
