A person died and four others were injured when a micro bus hit them at Jorpati, Kathmandu on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Rup Lal Sah of India.

The speeding four-wheeler (Ba 1 Ja 9809) first hit a motorbike and then hit fruit vendors Rup Lal Sah and Pradeep kumar Sah and pedestrian Chin Maya Budhathoki, police said. Rup Lal died on the spot.

Pradeep Kumar and Chin Maya, who were critically injured in the incident, are receiving treatment at the Nepal Medical College in Attarkhel, Gokerneshwor Municipality, police said.

Two others who were on the bike had already returned home after treatment.

According to DIG Migmar Lama of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, the incident occurred due to a brake failure.

The driver fled the scene after the incident, police said.
