The emergency standing committee meeting of main opposition party CPN-UML has decided that the party won't accept the parliament's decision to move ahead with Prime Minister's election when the parliament is obstructed.
Legislature Parliament has published the schedule of the Prime Minister's election for Sunday through notice after the main opposition UML has been obstructing the parliament demanding that the Election Commission should revive the counting of votes of the Bharatpur Metropolis.
Party Secretary Gokarna Raj Bista said the party has decided that the parliament's polling process would not be acceptable to the party when the parliament was not functioning due to obstruction.
The party has also decided that the Election Commission's decision has flouted the rule of law, constitution, democratic system and people's vote. "UML has been stunned by the latest Election Commission's decision of re-polling at ward number 19 of Bharatpur Metropolis," Bista said following the standing committee meeting.
Bista, however, said the party has made this preliminary decision and but has not decided on what the party would do next to protest these developments.
UML leaders have been warning that the repolling of Bharatpur would adversely affect all other elections to come.
The second phase of local level polls has been scheduled for June 28 at four Provinces —1,2,5 and 7.
