Main opposition party CPN-UML obstructed House proceedings on Thursday demanding resumption of vote counting in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan.
UML candidate Devi Gyawali was leading the mayoral race over CPN (Maoist Center) Renu Dahal when the counting was stopped. Some Maoist Center's cadres allegedly tore ballot papers of Bharapur-19 leading to the postponement of vote counting.
Lawmakers of the main opposition party stood up from their seats as soon as Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar announced the commencement of the House proceedings. Speaker Gharti repeatedly urged the protesting lawmakers to take their seats but the request went unheeded.
Speaker Gharti postponed the meeting for 11 am on June 4 following the obstruction.
