Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed that the constitution amendment bill tabled at the Parliament will be endorsed with a two-third majority even if the main opposition CPM-UML does not support it.
Speaking at a programme organised by the NC Central Election Publicity Committee on Saturday, he said, “We want the CPN-UML to back the amendment bill,” adding, “Bring the amendment issues to the forefront if the UML has any. We will try to forge consensus by including them.”
The former Prime Minister said that the UML has no rights to obstruct the parliamentary process even if it does not support the amendment bill.
Urging the main opposition party not to obstruct the House proceedings, leader Deuba said the UML to vote against the amendment bill if it has any dissatisfaction, but do not obstruct the Parliament business and hold the nation hostage.
