Student unions to intensify protests against fee hike in private schools

As the first phase of the protest programmes came to an end on Thursday, the students unions have announced further protest programmes till May 1.
According to Nepal Students Union (NSU) Vice-President Ram Prasad Adhikari, the student unions have decided to padlock all the education departments and education offices across the country on Friday, boycott Education Minister, high-level officials of the Ministry, officials of the PABSON and N-PABSON on April 30 and obstruct public vehicles on May 1.
As many as eight student unions including NSU, All Nepal National Free Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNFSU-R), All Nepal Free Student Union (ANNFSU), among other, have warned of intensifying protests against the decision of PABSON and N-PABSON to hike the tuition fees.
They have also padlocked more than 100 schools in Kathmandu Valley so far.
After the student unions warned to intensifying the protests, the Department of Education has called a meeting of the Central Fee Fixation and Monitoring Committee for Friday.
