A meeting between the government and Madhesi Morcha finally struck a deal on Saturday with both sides agreeing to hold local bodies election in two phases.
Ministry for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak, emerging from the meeting, informed the agreement to hold local bodies election in two phases was reached between the leaders. Minister Lekhak said the first phase of polls will be held on May 14 while the second phase will be held by May/June.
Lekhak said government will discuss with Election Commission over announcing the date for second phase of election.
The leaders have agreed to begin the process to revise the amendment bill from Sunday.
Madhesi Morcha has also called off all its protest programmes after the agreement.
