UML leader Subash Chandra Nembang said it was not possible to defer the local bodies election slated for May 14 to a later date.
Nembang's remark comes at time when discussions about deferring May 14 election were being weighed up by some political leaders.
Nembang ruled out any possibility of postponing the election saying there would be no consensus in this regard. "Deferring date is not possible under constitutional and legal terms," said Nembang. "This is a ploy to deter elections. It is not acceptable to us."
