A contempt of court complaint has been filed against Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday.
Advocate Hari Mainali filed the complaint at the Supreme Court against the NC president citing the party central committee meeting decision that states the apex court's verdict, regarding the appointment of the chief of Nepal Police (Inspector General of Police), undermined the authority of the executive body of the state.
The petitioner has sought maximum penalty for the offense saying that if left unpunished the precedent would lead to a situation where the court's verdicts could be left unimplemented.
