Ruling parties on Friday have decided to put the stalled amendment proposal on hold and bring a new one to bring the agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha on board the local level elections slated for May 14.
Ruling parties made the decision during a meeting held with Madhesi Morcha at Baluwatar this evening.
The meeting was called by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
It is learnt that PM Dahal, who is also the Chairman of ruling CPN (Maoist Centre), would prepare the proposal by holding discussions with the leaders of ruling parties and Madhesi Morcha.
“PM Dahal will prepare the proposal by holding discussions with the leaders of ruling parties and Madhesi Morcha,” CPN (Maoist Centre) spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said. “Revision proposal will be prepared soon,” she added.
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Deputy Prime Minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman, however, were not present in the meeting.
According to Bhusal, PM Dahal had proposed to resolve the issue of demarcation through the Federal Commission and increase the number of local units on the basis of population.
