Indian army chief Gen Rawat handed over a stallion light breed, two brood mares, two gelds and two donkey stallions amid a special function in Kathmandu.
Rawat, who was appointed to the top post on December 31, was invited by Chief of Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri.
As part of the tradition of exchanging honorary titles between the army chiefs of the two countries, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will confer the honorary rank of general of the Nepal Army during a special function at the President’s Office Sheetal Niwas, Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The two armies have had the practice since 1950 as a symbol of good relations.
Gen Rawat also paid a courtesy call on CoAS Chhetri at Nepal Army headquarters earlier in the day.
According to NA Directorate of Public Relations, issues of mutual concerns and bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting between the two army chiefs.
