Sacked National Reconstru-ction Authority chief Sushil Gyewali has moved the Supreme Court, challenging the government’s decision to remove him from the post.Sacked National Reconstru-ction Authority chief Sushil Gyewali has moved the Supreme Court, challenging the government’s decision to remove him from the post.
Gyewali on Monday demanded an interim order seeking his reinstatement as the government replaced him last week “unlawfully” and with an “ill-intention”.
The erstwhile KP Sharma Oli-led government had appointed Gyewali on December 25, 2015 to head the authority for five years according to Section (11) of the Reconstruction Act. However, the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government appointed Govind Raj Pokharel as the new CEO last Wednesday.
In the writ petitioned by Ananda Prasad Subedi, on behalf of Gyewali, the government, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Cabinet, the prime minister and new CEO Pokharel have been made defendants.
Gyewali charged that Pokharel’s appointment was premeditated by his opponents even as he had furnished detailed clarifications on the reconstruction works twice.
