The Supreme Court on Monday refused to issue an interim order against the amendment bill registered at the Parliament. The Supreme Court on Monday refused to issue an interim order against the amendment bill registered at the Parliament.
The apex court said it was not appropriate for the judiciary to interfere on the bill yet to gain maturity in the parliament. A division bench of Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada stated it would not be appropriate for the judiciary to stay the bill at times when the legislative parliament has not been able to use its wisdom.
The Supreme Court refusal to issue an interim order on the bill has cleared the deck for constitutional amendment.
This has also put pressure on the opposition parties including CPN-UML who have been obstructing the bill from discussion in the parliament claiming it to be unconstitutional.
