Nepal Police said they have launched an integrated security plan aimed at checking illegal activities and road accidents during the New Year celebrations. Metropolitan Traffic Division Chief DIG Prakash Aryal said no programmes will be allowed on roads on Saturday and Sunday.
Aryal said three valley police offices will jointly mobilise police personnel to prevent any criminal activities during the New Year. "We have implemented integrated security plan to curb illegal activities and accidents. Drinking, driving under the influence, fighting and use of drugs will not be allowed," said DIG Aryal.
Acting Chief of Kathmandu Police SP Pradhyumna Karki said the ban on stage programmes will be implemented in coordination with Chief District Officer of three valley districts. SP Karki said 2,000 police personnel will be deployed on Saturday and Sunday to beef up security in the Valley.
Police have urged commoners to call on emergency number 100, 103 or send sms to 9851295100 to report any untoward activity.
