‘Pashupati centre of reverence for people of Nepal, India’

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, who is on a three-day visit to Nepal, performed a special puja at Pashupatinath Temple on Thursday.
After performing the puja, Mukherjee expressed his willingness to assist in the reconstruction of the ghats on the temple premises.
“Pashupatinath Temple is a centre of reverence for the people of Nepal and India,” the Indian head of state wrote on the Visitors’ Book after the puja. “I am glad to perform puja at Pashupatinath Temple. This temple is a site of cultural, religious and historic importance.”
Stating that the government of India is pleased to undertake the India-Nepal Friendship Dharmashala Project, which is currently being carried out, President Mukherjee wrote he was “pleased to announce that the government of India will assist in reconstruction of ghats on the premises of the temple”.
Mukherjee also wished success to the Pashupati Area Development Trust for the “efforts made by it for the preservation and upkeep of this unique temple”. He also thanked the temple administration for making arrangements for the special puja.
