Chinese Prez Xi likely to open culture centre in Kathmandu

The main building of the center, established in Maharajgunj, is expected to be inaugurated by senior government official from China in November, possibly by Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to officials.
Yin Kunsong, director at the CCC, hinted at the possibility of President Xi inaugurating the center during his visit to Nepal. “The Center will be a milestone in promoting people to people relation between two neighbours,” said Yin. The center is aims to use the facility to hold events such as a free learning center, library, exhibition hall, musical programmes, Chinese film and documentary screening and cultural exchange programmes. It will also be organising Chinese food festivals, Chinese language learning classes and seminars on diplomatic relations between the two neighbours.
The opening of the facility will promote cultures of the two countries, said Melsam Ojha, president of Friendship and Development Academy which has been promoting the Chinese culture in Nepal.
