CPN-UML lawmaker Rajya Laxmi Golchha has claimed that she was asked by the party leadership to quit from Parliament for being a daughter of Indian parents.
Speaking at a press meet in Biratnagar on Monday, she said UML was trying to get rid of her on the basis of her birth nationality. Golchha insisted that she will not resign unless UML provides a reasonable explanation. She also revealed that she had provided a financial assistance of around Rs 150 million to UML in the past.
Golchha, who was elected under the Proportional Representation category, said was being pressured to quit the Parliament which, she claimed, was the doing of “inner powers of UML”.
UML has said that Golchha was instructed to leave the lawmaker’s post for violating party’s instructions and for undisciplined behaviour. The instruction was issued after she did not show up in Parliament during crucial times such as the endorsement of the new constitution and prime ministerial election.
Golchha, however, said that she was unable to attend the prime ministerial election because she was in New Delhi for a health check-up. She added that she had informed about her New Delhi visit to party chiarman and the vice-chairman.
