Bridges to be coloured according to their names
The major bridges in the city are to witness visual transformation as the government has decided to colour them in line with its existing namesBagmati Bridge linking the Tinkune-Maitighar stretch has already been painted yellow and is to be called ‘Pahelo Pul’. Together with this initiation, other bridges will also be coloured according to their names which include- Seto Pul (white), Rato Pul (red) and Kalo Pul (black). Similarly, Bhatkeko Pul will be coloured with purple and renamed as ‘Baijani Pul’ while the bridge near Om hospital is set to be green and called ‘Hariyo Pul’.
According to Kishore Thapa, secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), these colours will give the bridges more significant existence. “All of these bridges are the landmark of our city and we have to give each of them an individual character. Hence we have decided to colour them,” said Thapa. “Realising the random names given to these bridges, it has also been difficult for people to navigate and locate areas. After this the bridges will be the proper marker for pedestrians and commuters.”
Together with the colouring, the Dhobikhola corridor will also be beautified and made people friendly.
