Mandala Theatre Nepal will stage a new production titled ‘Milarepa’, beginning on November 4, 2025 at 5:30 pm and running daily (except Monday) until December 7, 2025 at its venue in Thapagaun, New Baneshwar.
The play tells the story of a yogi and poet, Jetsun Milarepa, born in Kyangtsa on the Nepal-Tibet border. The narrative follows his transformation from a troubled young man who used black tantric magic to a repentant ascetic who achieved enlightenment under his guru, Marpa Lotsawa.
Written by Chang Ngon Heruk and directed by Buddhi Tamang and Umesh Tamang, the cast features actors such as Rupesh Lama, Ramila Moktan, Bikash Lam and many others.
The stage production is complemented by live traditional music featuring vocals by Ani Choying Drolma and musical arrangement by Sudip Khatiwada, among others.
Tickets are available online or at the box office with pricing at Rs500 (normal), Rs300 (student) and Rs1,000 (premium). Student tickets are limited and require a valid student ID. Online sales close one hour before showtime.
This production allows audiences to engage with a rich spiritual and cultural narrative—blending Nepal’s historical ties with Tibetan Buddhism and theatre as a modern storytelling medium.
