Kora Cycling Challenge, Nepal’s largest charity cycling event, is returning for its 15th edition on July 19.
This edition, over 5,500 cyclists will take part in the event organised in over 20 places in Nepal alongside Australia, Laos, Canada, Scotland and Singapore.
“More places from Nepal and abroad are expected to join the event before it kicks off next Saturday,” Raj Gyawali, founder of socialtours, said in a press conference organised at the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) on Friday.
Socialtours initiated the event in 2011 and it is now being co-organised by Cycle City Network Nepal and Pangro Outdoor Events. “Local organisers will take the lead in their respective cities and countries,” Gyawali added.
The main event will be in the Kathmandu Valley—starting from Patan with 2km rides for kids to 25km, 50km, 70km, 100km and 165km loops for senior riders—while Bhaktapur, Biratnagar, Birtamod, Butwal, Chitwan, Damak, Dhangadhi, Hetauda, Lamjung, Nepalgunj, Palpa, Sainamaina, Tarahara and Udayapur, among others, will organise local events.
“This year, the national fundraising goal is to install solar home systems for a marginalised Danuwar community near Melamchi Bazaar in Sindhupalchowk district,” the organisers informed.
