St Xavier’s, Kantipur win in Apex ICC Cup

St Xavier’s College registered their second victory in the Apex ICC Cup inter-college T20 cricket competition after they defeated Thames International College by 42 runs at Mulpani Cricket Ground on Thursday.
Xavier’s, sent in to bat first after losing the toss, posted a huge total of 150-2 after Rupesh Bhasyal and Sabin Dahal scored half-centuries. Bhasyal scored 72 runs off 62 balls and Dahal made 45-51 in their innings.
In reply, Rahul Bhujel and Suman Shrestha took two wickets each as Xavier’s restricted Thames to 108-7. Saras Khatri top scored for Thames with 25 off 39 balls and Biben Twanbasu hit 19 runs facing 27 deliveries.
Kantipur College of Management and Information Technology defeated Islington College by 34 runs in the day’s other match.
Kantipur opted to bat first and posted 120-9 and later restricted Islington to 86-10 in 15.5 overs.
Subhash Sapkota hit 32 runs off 30 balls and Rojal Pant made 28 off 30 balls for Kantipur. Islington’s Suyash Dhakal took 3-15 and Meenal Timilsina returned the match figures of 2-22.
Amrit Raj Karki shone with the ball with 4-16 and Subhash Sapkota took 3-13 to guide Kantipur to victory. Meenal Timilsina made 27 and Pratham Bhattarai scored 26 for Islington.
