Bishwas Shrestha struck a hat-trick as Himalayan Sherpa Club crushed Nepal APF Club 4-1 to enter the semi-finals of Bishal Gold Cup football tournament at the Narayani Stadium in Birgunj on Sunday.
Himalayan Sherpa were 4-0 up by the interval. Sherpa went ahead in the early ninth minute through Ivorian forward Patrick Private Goha. They doubled the advantage two minutes later through Shretha who was set by Goha. Shrestha extended the lead even further in the 15th minute. Man-of-the-match Shrestha completed his hat-trick in the 39th minute.
APF managed to score in the 39th minute through a header from Mahesh Lama. APF coach Sudip Shrestha said the absence of first-team starters hampered his side’s game. “As most of the senior players are competing in the Khaptad Gold Cup, we had to field relatively weaker squad,” he said. Himalayan Sherpa coach Subash Limbu said his team made full use of scoring opportunities. Nawajana Jagriti Youth Club will take on Tribhuvan Army Club on Monday.
