Surya Khatri leaped 1.98 metre to set the new national record in men’s high jump. Khatri bettered the previous mark of 1.97 metre held by Bal Krishna Chaudhary. Sima Kumari Tharu also set the national record in the women’s javelin throw. Tharu threw 43 metres to better her own record of 39.46 metres.
Amrita Mahato set another national record in the women’s discus throw by set a record throw of 39.82 metres. She broke her own previous national mark of 34.37 metres. All three athletes belong to the national team and are going regular training.
Chief national coach Sushil Narshing Rana said that performance in the Time Trial will form the basis for the players to compete in future international tournaments.
