NTC to sponsor Nepal Police football teams
The Nepal Telecom has become the official sponsor of the Nepal Police Women and Men's football teams after signing a contract of Rs 2.2 million on Friday.Telecom's Managing Director Budhi Prasad Acharya and Nepal Police's IGP and Police Central Sports Committee Chairman Upendra Kant Aryal signed an agreement paper for a year's contract to sponsor both women and men's teams.
The amount will be shared among the two teams with Nepal Police men's team receiving Rs 1.6 million and women's team being allocated Rs 600,000. As per the terms of the new sponsorship venture, both the teams require to wear jerseys with a Nepal Telecom logo imprinted on it. The Telecom has been sponsoring men's team since 2068 BS and women's team since 2070 BS.
Telecom Managing Director Acharya said the football was a popular sporting event and that the sponsorship was meant to help in the development of the players affiliated with the Nepal Police football teams.
On the occasion, Nepal Police IGP Aryal said the amount sponsored by Telecom would be spent only for the players and the game. He said discussions would be held in the coming days to address the pervasive sentiment amongst the players that the facilities have not been sufficient.
