Ncell crowned champions
Ncell claimed the first Qatar Airways Corporate Indoor 8’s Tournament with a slim 8-run victory over Civil Bank at the Royal Indoor Cricket on Saturday.In the final match, Saurav Shah made 38 runs as Ncell piled a mammoth 172 runs in 16 overs. Civil - who were playing with the like former U-19 national cricketers Abhaya Rana and Raj Shrestha - could only manage 164. Shrestha made 28 runs for Civil, while Saurav put an all round display picking up three wickets. Rana had three scalps for the losing side.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Civil routed Janata Bank by 195 runs. Janata batted first and were limited for just 24 runs in 16 overs. Civil posted a tournament-high 219 for a thumping victory after Bhola Bista (51) completed a half century. In the second semi-final, Ncell hammered NIC Asia by 95 runs. NIC Asia made 93 before Ncell replied with 188 runs with Saurav making 34 runs. Ncell’s Bista was adjudged the man-of-the-series for his 147 runs and 19 wickets throughout the tournament. Shrestha took 12 wickets and was adjudged the best bowler. Basanta of Radisson Hotel was named the best batsman for his 85 runs in the league stage.
Yeti Holidays were named the fairplay team. Qatar Airways country manager Ramdas Shivram and national team middle order batsman Sharad Vesawkar gave away the prizes to the winners. A total of 12 teams participated in the four-day league-cum-knockout tournament organized by Red Cherry Sports Management.
