Incessant rainfall has caused road disruptions in various parts of the country on Tuesday.

In Palpa, landslides have blocked the Siddhartha Highway, the Palpa-Gulmi road section and the Kaligandaki corridor.

According to Palpa District Traffic Police Office, the Siddhartha Highway was blocked on Tuesday morning due to multiple landslides in the Palpa section of the highway.

A massive landslide has been reported near the Siddhababa area of Tinau Rural Municipality-3 of the district. Police said it will take at least two hours to clear the debris, adding continuous rainfall and mudslide is hampering the work.

Vehicles heading to hilly districts including Palpa and Gulmi have been stranded in Butwal due to a landslide in the Siddhababa area, according to Dobhan Police Station.

Landslides have been also reported along Bertung-Dumre road section.

Bishnu Prasad Bhandari, chief of Rambha Rural Municipality, said the Kaligandaki corridor has been blocked due to landslides in wards 2 and 3 of the rural municipality.

Likewise, the Palpa-Gulmi road section has been obstructed at Tansen Municipality-5.

Similarly, landslides have blocked the Sandhikharka-Gorusinghe road section in Arghakhanchi district.

Traffic has come to a standstill following mudslides at multiple locations including Ghumti, Dahkhola, Narpani, Bhuwanpata and Thada.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Mukunda Rijal said teams with necessary equipment have been mobilised to clear the debris.

Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said the water level in major rivers and their tributaries will continue to rise for the next three days.

The division said the water level in Tinau river is close to the danger mark and has asked those living in riverside settlements to remain alert.
