Rabi Lamichhane brought to Chitwan for interrogation in cooperatives fraud case

Police in Chitwan have brought Rabi Lamichhane, former home minister and lawmaker from Chitwan-2, to the district for questioning regarding the alleged embezzlement of funds from Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative.
Lamichhane, who also serves as the chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, was escorted to the District Police Office following his arrival at Bharatpur Airport on Tuesday.
Chitwan police said that Lamichhane is under investigation for the alleged misuse of cooperative funds, with further inquiries taking place in Kaski, Rupandehi, and Kathmandu.
Earlier, on Sunday, Chitwan police had brought former Deputy Inspector General of Police Chhabilal Joshi and another suspect, Ram Bahadur Khanal, to Bharatpur for questioning at the government attorney’s office. Both individuals had previously been held in Kaski police custody.
Victims of Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative have accused the cooperative of unlawfully investing funds in various companies, including the Gorkha Media Network, founded by Gitendra Bahadur (GB) Rai.
Lamichhane is currently under custody of Kaski Police. Earlier, he was taken to Rupandehi and Kathmandu for interrogation in similar cases.
