The Department of Road has commenced work on rerouting the BP Highway along the Nepalthok-Dhulikhel road section, which had been obstructed by a flood from the Roshi River.

Approximately 100 metres of the road segment between Nepalthok and Dhulikhel was swept away by the flood.

Parasmani Hamal, chief of the Department of Roads in Sindhuli, said that a temporary track is currently being constructed where the road was damaged. However, a further 10-kilometre stretch near Bhakundebesi remains impassable.

In addition to the damage caused by the Roshi river at Nepalthok, six other road sections have been severely affected by flooding.

Near Chowkidanda in Kavre, about half a kilometre of the road was washed away, while around 1.5 kilometres of the Nepalthok-Dhulikhel section suffered extensive damage.

In Roshi Rural Municipality, over 200 metres of road have been destroyed.

Furthermore, 200 metres of the road near the Narke Bridge and another 200 metres close to the Roshi river in Thali Besi have been swept away by the floods.

On the Sindhuli side, the Nepalthok-Khurkot section is now accessible in the rural municipalities of Sunkoshi, Dumja, Kamerephant, and Tupidanda.

Lekhnath Dahal, a federal lawmaker from Sindhuli-2, now in the field for resuming transportation along BP Highway, reported that efforts are being intensified to reopen the road quickly.
